privacy-overview

Overview

This policy explains what personal data video-editor.com collects, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it. It covers the website, our production services, and our software.

We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at office@video-editor.com with any question about your data.

Short version. We collect what we need to reply to you, run your project, and process your order — nothing more. We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles.
privacy-what

What We Collect

When you contact us or commission work

  • Name, email address, and phone number if you provide it.
  • Company name and billing details where relevant.
  • The content of your messages to us.
  • Project material you send us — footage, audio, scripts, brand assets. This may contain personal data of people appearing in it, which we process on your behalf.

When you buy software

  • Order and licence information. Payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record — they collect and process the payment details, we do not see or store your card number.
  • The email address linked to your purchase, used for licence delivery and update notices.

When you visit the website

  • IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and pages viewed.
  • Cookie identifiers, described in the Cookie Policy.

What our software collects

KlikSync runs locally on your machine. It does not transmit your footage, your project files, or your usage to us. Diagnostic reports are generated only when you choose to create one, and are sent only if you email them to us yourself.

privacy-why

Why We Use It

We use personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so.

To perform a contract with you

  • Delivering a video project you commissioned.
  • Supplying and supporting software you purchased.
  • Handling invoices, receipts and refunds.

Because we have a legitimate interest

  • Replying to enquiries.
  • Understanding how the website is used so we can improve it.
  • Keeping records of work delivered and correspondence.
  • Protecting the site and our systems from abuse.

Because you consented

  • Marketing emails and product announcements, where you asked to receive them. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Non-essential cookies, where required.

Because the law requires it

  • Accounting and tax records.
  • Responding to lawful requests from authorities.
privacy-sharing

Who We Share It With

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent needed.

  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and merchant of record for software sales.
  • Webflow — website hosting and form submissions.
  • Google Analytics — website usage statistics.
  • Email and file transfer providers — correspondence and delivery of project material.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

International transfers

Some of these providers operate internationally, which means data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses.

privacy-retention

How Long We Keep It

We keep personal data only as long as we need it.

  • Enquiries that do not become projects — up to 12 months.
  • Project correspondence and records — for the duration of the working relationship and a reasonable period after, so we can answer questions about past work.
  • Client footage and project files — kept for an agreed period after delivery so revisions remain possible, then deleted. If you want your material removed immediately after delivery, tell us and we will do that.
  • Order and licence records — retained as long as required by accounting and tax law.
  • Analytics data — retained according to the settings in Google Analytics.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Have your data deleted, where we have no overriding obligation to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to how we process it.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these, email office@video-editor.com. We respond within 30 days.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data and client material — access controls, encrypted transfer where available, and limiting who can see project files. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always the one published here.
